WESTERN AUSTRALIA

say g'day to wa

Western Australia is a the biggest state in the country and it is home to some incredibly beautiful places, with diverse landscapes ranging from pristine beaches to rugged national parks. This guide is written by a local (that’s me!) to help you make the most of your solo adventure here in Western Australia (or WA for short). I’ll be sharing practical tips, personal anecdotes, and insights into some of the best destinations the region has to offer.

Perth - WA's capital city

Are you interested in travelling to Perth? Let me – a biased local – tell you a little more about this coastal city. Perth is “home” to me and “is that near Sydney?” to many foreigners aboard.

It’s true – when I tell people where I’m from on my travels, often people have never heard of Perth and have no idea where it is! Which might have a little to do with the fact that it’s the most isolated capital city in the world and much less travelled than the other Australian capital cities like Sydney and Melbourne.

So many people have never even heard of this little state capital, but let me show you more about this lesser-know gem.

getting around

There are a variety of ways to get around Perth – and the rest of WA, including public transport, taxi and ride shares, cycling, and hiring a car.

where to stay

From the busy city centre to beachfront accommodations in Scarborough, Cottesloe and Fremantle; or somewhere along the Swan River, Perth has so many accomodation options.
