Don’t forget to do these 8 things before you go Don’t forget to do these 8 things before you go on your trip… 👇🏼👇🏼 ✨ 𝘿𝙤𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 ✨ Check to ensure you have at least 6 months validity on your passport (and that it’s all intact and has no damage) ✨ 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙨 ✨ Check what visas you need for each destination you’re travelling to, how to apply for them and what is needed 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 in advance ✨ 𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 ✨ I once read that if you can’t afford travel insurance, you cannot afford to travel and, after hearing that and countless horror stories, I will never travel without it. ✨ 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 ✨ See a travel doctor to ensure you are up to date with any required or recommended vaccines for your destination/s, and you’re equipped with any necessary medications. ✨ 𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 ✨ This one doesn’t need much explaining but I always travel with two universal chargers to reduce the number I need to take and it means I also have a backup. ✨ 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙡𝙖𝙬𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙨 ✨ Research the laws of the destination you’re going to because some countries have laws vastly different to what you know (for example: Chewing gum is banned in Singapore). You also want to make sure you’ve researched local customs, including dress codes, to ensure you are packed appropriately. ✨ 𝙂𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 ✨ It’s a good idea to have a basic understanding of the currency you’ll be using when you travel (and specifically how it converts to your own currency). It’s also important to understand accessibility of ATMs, EFTPOS and if cash is king. ✨ 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 ✨ Government travel advice is a great tool to use for accurate information for its citizens. For Aussies, check out @smarttraveller, which is a really good resource for legitimate visa application websites for other countries, laws, entry requirements, etc. For Australians, the government ratings can also affect your validity of travel insurance, which is always handy to check!

👇🏼 Currency and money tips you NEED know bef 👇🏼 Currency and money tips you NEED know before travelling to Kenya and Tanzania: 1 ➡️ The local currency in Kenya is Kenyan Shillings and in Tanzania is Tanzanian Shillings. 2 ➡️ Not all currencies are accepted at money exchanges. (AUD was one currency that some money changers wouldn’t accept.) 3 ➡️ USD is widely accepted in *most* places. I recommend bringing some along, even if it’s just as back-up. However, ensure the print date of the notes is within the last 10 years AND in good condition. I recommend taking some smaller denominations (I took $50 and $100, which were far too big in most cases). 4 ➡️ Visa is widely accepted in Tanzania and Kenya, over Mastercard. I ordered a Visa travel card through @wiseaccount for my trip and took my @qantas travel money card as back up. 5 ➡️ ALWAYS have a back up card. I also recommend a back-up back-up and I usually take my normal bank card just incase. Which brings me to my next point… 6 ➡️ ATMs are impatient in Kenya and Tanzania. 😅 If you’re an indecisive over-thinker like me, I recommend going into the ATM booth knowing exactly how much you want to withdraw as they don’t give you much time to think before asking if you’d like to continue your transaction. I learnt the hard way and when asked a second time by the machine if I’d like to continue, I pressed “yes” and it devoured my card. (Hence, point 5 😅) 7 ➡️ In Kenya, there are a few specific banks that offer withdrawals for both Kenyan Shillings and USD, which is handy if you don’t have enough USD on you and there is something you need to purchase that requires payment in USD. 8 ➡️ You may encounter issues with larger withdrawal at ATMs. You can potentially try a second time or rest assured, they are often plenty of ATMs around. ✨ Follow @awaywithwonder for more travels tips!
What animal would you LOVE to see on a safari? 🤩 Seeing these cheetahs was one of my favourite moments from our game drives. On this morning, we’d set off early on our first game drive of the trip. We’d probably only been driving for about 10 minutes, completely enthralled by our first animal sightings of zebras and buffalo - asking our driver to stop multiple times so we could watch them. After we’d been staring at another herd of zebras for a few minutes, our trip leader said “okay, we’re chasing something now”. This was the first time we would hear this phrase but it would soon become the four little words that every time they were spoken would quickly ignite excitement amongst the group. It meant we were *hopefully* going to be seeing that’s hard to spot or uncommon to see. It wasn’t long before we saw 10+ landcruisers parked along the side of the road (this was a cue we picked up that if there’s more than three cars, there’s usually something to see). As we pulled up, there they were. I’m shy. Regardless of how many experiences I I’m shy. Regardless of how many experiences I throw myself into to try combat it, while I’m less shy than I used to be, it’s the one thing that most people who’ve met me know about me. It’s something I’ve tried to overcome for a long time and one thing that really irks me is people judging my capabilities because of it. Among other times, I had this happen to me when I moved to London back in 2019. I recently came across this note I’d written about it: “I’ve been pro-active in beginning my job search – sending resumes and signing up for recruitment agencies. I actually met with a recruitment agency today, who were less-than-impressed with my “quiet” personality. I certainly didn’t expect to be criticised at a job agency for being “reserved” as the recruitment lady put it. In fact, it was my first full day in London and, to be quite honest, I felt like it was an achievement just making it to the office on time after getting lost trying to to find the building. I was expecting – not having used a recruitment agency before – that I’d be walked through the process. Instead, I felt like I was being interrogated as she told me she was having a hard time believing that the experience on my resume (or CV as they call it here) was my own. I felt as though it was being insinuated that I did not seem capable because of my “quiet” personality.” Any other fellow shy people out there had similar experiences? Have you heard about Metéora? ✨ Located in Gre Have you heard about Metéora? ✨ Located in Greece, it’s a place where monasteries, dating back to the 15th century, were built atop a collection of ginormous sandstone rocks. The rock formations rise on average around 300 metres from the ground, which certainly would have made the construction of the 24 monasteries a pretty tricky task 😅 Only six of the monasteries remain active today and welcome visitors to explore. Here’s how I remove people from the background o Here’s how I remove people from the background of my photos👇🏼 Unless you’re dedicated to arriving at places by 5am, it’s not always possible to get a photo without people in background, especially at busy monuments. So when I have pictures like this, I often just edit them out ⚡️ #instagramnotreality 👉🏼 I don’t use any Photoshop or AI (although these may be quicker).
